L’arbre nomade
Artistic dance creation that explores themes of forced migration or displacement, and the mixing of different cultures and identities through the creation of contemporary ritual. An exploration of loss and grief—the loss of a loved one and the perceived loss of culture, and the transformation of that loss or grief into the recognition that what seems to have been lost has simply been transformed. Also inspired by Chinese funeral rites and conversations, both real and imagined, between cultures, between generations, between the old and the new, and between the traditional and the contemporary. Solo presented at the Centre Culturel Calixa-Lavallée in 2009.
